Success Stories

My Pal: Mr. Ray Cavanaugh
Back in the summer of 2005 I received a call from a former client of mine which I met while programming fitness instruction at the community senior's centre. Stella Cavanaugh was very concerned about her husbands health and needed help with a severe back problem.

Ray suffered with disc herniation, spinal stenosis, abdominal wall herniation and had suffered several strokes which left him with limited use of his right side. Ray was confined to the house with a limited area in which he could move around relying on his faithful walker and lots of assistance from his dedicated wife and best friend Stella.

I spoke to Ray's family physician and we agreed that Ray would definitely benefit from a flexibility and stability exercise program. We knew that the road to recovery would not be overnight but Ray was determined to progress to a healthier pain free lifestyle.

The exercise program consisted of flexibility, stability, strengthening and balance. As Ray grew stronger spinal decompression exercises were added. Each month Ray grew stronger and stronger and now today, approximately a year after that phone call, Ray is mobile and is not limited to his walker any more. He sleeps pain free, eats like a horse, and watches all of his favorite sports on TV while relaxing in his recliner chair.

My hat goes off to you Ray! Even at 82 years young you committed yourself to improvement and a healthy lifestyle. Which goes to prove exercise is limitless to age and over whelming conditions.

Meet Doug Martin
Back in Jan. 2005 my associate suggested that I speak with a friend of hers that was having trouble with a chronic shoulder problem. After consulting with Doug we determined that there were definite problems inside the shoulder that needed to be corrected or there could be long term ramifications.

Doug had a severe fall a few years back which left him with a shoulder dislocation and subsequently he needed a pin for partial shoulder mobility. The shoulder mechanism had showed signes of atrophy ( muscle shrinkage ) and was very sore and lacked strength and range of motion.

The exercise protocol was going to take some time but the long term prognosis was good. The program consisted of Internal / External shoulder rotation (Primary) followed by secondary muscle strengthening and stabilization.

Within the first month Doug was feeling stronger and range of motion was increasing and the pain had diminished. A few months later Doug now enjoys a full exercise regiment including all the exercises that he could not do because of his shoulder restrictions.

Fire Fighter Christopher Stewart
From my first consultation with Glenn Foley to my last set and rep in his gym, Glenn’s commitment and pure energy towards my goals both helped motivate and allow me to surpass my initial ambitions. As a professional fire fighter, I have a commitment to fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle; however, after a few years of up and down medical set backs, I was in a plateau physically and needed some help. Facing a timeline for an upcoming clinical fire fighter assessment, I needed to increase my aerobic capacity (VO² max.), decrease my body composition and improve my flexibility.

With only 5 weeks to accomplish all these objectives I was extremely challenged and a little anxious. Without Glenn and his incredible guidance and fitness program development I would not have been able to lose 15lbs, decrease my body fat percentage by 4%, and improve my VO² max. by 8 l/min. Additionally, the benefits from his nutritional and dietary advice maintained my energy levels and allowed for my body to endure the demands I was undertaking. Glenn along with his associate Brenda make up an unbelievable team, they will facilitate in assessing your goals and provide you the direction, commitment and the personal support needed to carry out and achieve your visions. It is with great privilege to have trained and worked with Glenn Foley.
